Season 2027 · The Opening Season

First to 21.
Every point earns itself.

Clutch21 is the professional 1v1 basketball league, and the home of the 1v1 World Ranking. The Pro tour is six city stops and sixteen-player brackets, one champion — the opening season tips off in Chicago on 14 March 2027.

The World Series is open to everyone. As soon as tournaments are organised in your territory you can be ranked — and from today, an athlete’s licence lets you challenge any other player, post the result, and upload the video to the Arena.

Watch the games

Live rooms, the Pro tour nights as they happen, and every replay after them — alongside the 1v1s the community posts themselves. The Am and Young rooms are free to watch; a live Pro night is pay-per-view, and a Creator Pass carries every replay.

The format

A game everyone knows,
run like a professional sport

Twenty-one is the oldest argument in basketball. We gave it a rulebook, a shot clock, officials and a season table — and left everything that makes it worth watching alone.

Games to 21

Ones inside the arc, twos behind it. Win by two — and if you are level when the clock runs out, overtime settles it.

12-second shot clock

Clear behind the arc, then score inside twelve seconds. Stalling is a turnover, not a tactic.

Two periods of six

Twelve minutes of basketball either side of a two-minute half-time — and a short game to 11 in a single six. There are no time-outs. The clock does not stop, so nobody can stop the game to think.

Season table

Everyone starts on zero

This is the league’s point system, and both competitions run on it. Points are awarded by where you finish, and nothing else: not reputation, not seeding, not what you did last year.

On the Pro tour these are the numbers as they stand — six stops, one table, a stop win worth 100, and the top eight reach the Las Vegas Finals in November. On the World Series the same five finishes are the base, multiplied by the level you won them at, so a city bracket is worth one of these and the World Championship eight.

Worldwide

One ladder, one ranking

Every athlete who competes is ranked at five levels at once — their city, their state or region, their country, their continent, and the World Ranking. One official result moves all five.

The World Series road climbs from your city through your state or region, your country and your continent to the World Championship. Reach the semi-finals of a level and you qualify for the level above: the four semi-finalists go up from every bracket.

Why we exist

The playground,
with consequences

One-on-one is how everybody learned this game, and it is the one format that never got a professional standard: rules that change with whoever booked the gym, officiating nobody trained, players left to look after themselves, and a scene that grew on call-outs rather than on the game.

Clutch21 keeps every part of it worth keeping and builds a sport around that. The energy stays. The risk goes.

Stays

  • Trash talk
  • Celebrating a bucket
  • The stare-down before the check
  • Playing to the crowd, and to the camera
  • Every bit of the handle you brought

Goes

  • Fighting, threats, hands to the face
  • Arguing every call
  • Entourages on the floor
  • Nights with nobody answerable for safety
  • Building an audience by tearing somebody down

What the league stands for →

Conduct

Trash talk yes,
disrespect no

One-on-one is a personal game and it is meant to be loud — there is nobody else to blame and nobody else to credit. What it is not is a licence to abuse an official, an opponent or somebody who came to watch. Compete, then shake hands.

It is refereed, not hoped for

Abuse directed at officials, opponents or spectators is an unsportsmanlike foul on first offence and a disqualification on second. The same rule in a city bracket and in the Las Vegas Finals.

And it is on camera

The conduct rules are published rather than buried, and the handshake after the final point is filmed every time. A league that says it cares about respect has to show it happening.

Players

One player signed for the opening season

Fourteen names are on the season card, and eight places at every stop go to the qualifier and to the league’s wildcards. One-on-one exposes everything — handle, footwork, conditioning, nerve.

Think you can go to 21?

Two ways in. Open qualifiers run in every host city the day before each Pro stop — sixteen spots, no seeding, no favours. The World Series is open to every licensed athlete, and it starts in your own city.
